As the Director of Engineering at Upaya,Im responsible for leading the entire software team to meet our company goals and objectives. My role involves providing strategic direction and leadership, setting priorities and goals aligned with the overall business strategy, managing the software development process from planning to deployment and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Product, Design, and R&D to ensure seamless execution of software development initiatives.
As an Engineering Manager, I oversaw all development and deliveries, defined and improved processes, managed client relationships, resolved conflicts, built KPIs for performance, planned for growth, and also supervised recruitment. Overall, my job was to lead and manage the development team to deliver high-quality software solutions that met the needs of our clients and business goals while fostering a culture of growth, innovation, and collaboration within the team.
As a Service Delivery Manager, I was responsible for managing and supervising all client engagements, ensuring promised deliveries were met. I maintained daily communication with key client contacts and fulfilled different roles as needed, from Scrum Master to Supervisor. I assigned internal resources to appropriate engagements and monitored their performance through KPIs. Additionally, I help build scalable business processes and provided technical consultations to clients on development methodologies and deployment strategies.
As a Senior Team Lead, I worked closely with the Chief Project Manager to plan the project architecture, road-map, sprints, execution and release. I brainstormed for enhancements and optimizations with the CTO and CEO. I took on projects as a team leader and full stack developer, breaking epics into tasks and assigning them to team members. I also collaborated with mobile App teams (IOS/Android) and helped them integrate their apps into the company's digital ecosystem, creating various web services.
As a Senior Developer, I took on projects as a full-stack developer and assigned tasks to other team members after breaking them into measurable parts. I worked with clients to understand their business requirements and provided them with the best solutions within their time and budget constraints. I collaborated with System and Network Engineers, to automate various services such as VPS provisions, Domain purchasing, Web hosting, and Enterprise emails.
As a web developer, I developed websites based on the specific requirements of clients. I worked to ensure that each project was executed to meet the highest standards, and that the end result was a high-quality, user-friendly experience for clients and end-users alike.
I have always strived to be a great leader by possessing vision, empowerment, and patience. I set goals and objectives that are challenging yet achievable, and I empower my team members to achieve them by providing them with the necessary Knowledge, resources, and support. I understand that different team members have different strengths and weaknesses, and I tailor my leadership style to bring out the best in each of them.
Customer focus is a core value that I hold dear, and I have always worked to incorporate it into all aspects of my work. I understand that customers are the lifeblood of any organization, and I am committed to ensuring that their needs are met. I have always prioritized early feedback from customers, and I use that feedback to continually refine and improve the products and services that we offer. By doing so, I help to ensure that we deliver value to our customers and meet their expectations.
I always belive in communicating with respect and empathy. I have learned that effective communication is key to building trust, fostering collaboration, and achieving great results. I listen attentively to my team members' concerns and ideas, and I offer constructive feedback that helps them grow and develop.
I was a musicophile from a very early age. I love playing my guitar and translating my endorphins , emotions into lyrics. I regularly did gigs at various local pubs and also released my first ever single “Bujaideu” back in April 2020. I plan to release more music in 2023.
